Sinopsis
Artemis Fowl II, seorang dalang kriminal muda Irlandia, menculik perwira peri LEPrecon Holly Short untuk dijadikan sebagai tebusan agar dapat mendanai pencarian ayahnya yang hilang, untuk memulihkan kekayaan keluarga.
Artemis hidup sendiri tanpa orang tuanya, dengan harta keluarga yang diwariskan dari ayahnya setelah ia menghilang di Laut Arktik di tangan mafia Rusia, kelompok yang berusaha merebut harga kekayaan Fowl.
Walau ibu Artemis masih hidup, ia hanya berdiam diri di kamarnya. Kematian suaminya perlahan-lahan menggerogoti kewarasannya.
Terinspirasi dari slogan keluarganya, Artemis berusaha mencari kekayaan lebih dengan mencuri emas milik para peri. Ia bahkan menculik seorang peri, seorang polisi wanita Holly Short, untuk dijadikan tawanan.
Sinopsis English
Artemis Fowl II, a young Irish criminal mastermind, kidnapped LEPrecon fairy officer Holly Short to be used as a ransom in order to fund the search for his missing father, to restore family wealth.
Artemis lived alone without his parents, with family assets inherited from his father after he disappeared in the Arctic Sea at the hands of the Russian mafia, a group that was trying to usurp the price of Fowl's wealth.
Although Artemis's mother was still alive, she just stayed in her room. Her husband's death slowly undermined his sanity.
Inspired by his family's slogan, Artemis tried to find more wealth by stealing the fairies' gold. He even kidnaps a fairy, a policewoman Holly Short, to be taken prisoner.
